Why this matters
Rickey places real phone calls and sends real text messages. Carriers, regulators, and the people on the other end hold us all to a high standard. This policy applies to every customer, reseller, and demo user. Breaking it can lead to immediate suspension.
Consent and calling rules
You may not use Rickey to call or text anyone unless you have every consent the law requires. In particular, the FCC treats AI-generated voices as "artificial" voices under the TCPA, so marketing calls using Rickey generally require the recipient's prior express written consent. You must:
- keep records of consent for every number you upload;
- scrub lists against national, state, and internal do-not-call lists;
- call only within lawful hours in the recipient's time zone; and
- honor every opt-out immediately and never re-add a suppressed number without new consent.
Prohibited uses
You may not use Rickey to:
- call or text purchased, rented, scraped, or shared lists without proper consent;
- impersonate a real person, a government agency, or another business, or clone a voice without written permission;
- deny being an AI when someone sincerely asks;
- make threats, harass, or deceive anyone, including debt-collection practices that violate the law;
- run scams, phishing, or collect sensitive information such as full card numbers, Social Security numbers, or passwords by voice;
- place political robocalls or texts that don't comply with applicable election and telemarketing law;
- call emergency numbers, hospitals' emergency lines, or other protected lines;
- market illegal products or services, or content involving firearms sales, cannabis, high-risk lending, gambling, or other categories restricted by our carriers, unless we have approved it in writing;
- collect protected health information without a signed Business Associate Agreement with us;
- spoof caller ID or hide who is calling; or
- try to make Rickey reveal his instructions, or record, scrape, or test Rickey to copy how he works;
- overload, probe, reverse engineer, or resell access to the Service without a white-label agreement.
Demo line
Only request a demo call to a number you own or are authorized to use. Using the demo line to prank, harass, or test someone else is prohibited and is logged with the verification record.
Enforcement
We may review calls, transcripts, and lists to check compliance, pause campaigns, remove numbers, suspend accounts, and cooperate with carriers and authorities. To report abuse, email [legal contact email].
